4 Ways to Stay Motivated to Exercise

A good exercise routine is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. Staying motivated to exercise can be hard since it isn’t always at the top of our priority lists. However, there are a few ways to do it! Here are four surefire ways to help you stay motivated to exercise.

Bring a Buddy

It is almost always easier to stay motivated and excited to exercise whenever you have someone to keep you accountable and make it more fun! Bringing a friend can not only make your workout more interesting and less of a bore, but since someone else is relying on you to show up, you will actually end up going.

Make Your Workout Fun

If you always do the same routine, switch it up. Enroll in a yoga class if you are an avid kickboxer, or try some water aerobics. If you always do the same thing, you will keep getting bored. And when you are bored, you don’t want to go do that thing that makes you bored. Instead of running on the treadmill, take a swing on an elliptical machine!

Keep a Schedule

If you know that you won’t get up in time to work out in morning, make time for your workout after work. If you hate getting sweaty before dinner, unwind with some yoga after dinner. No matter what, you need to keep a schedule for yourself to not only keep yourself accountable, but to actually motivate yourself to exercise. If you take that Pilates class at 7am every Monday morning, you will make time to go and exercise.

Set a Goal

If you set a goal, such as running a half marathon three months from now, or if you want to become more energized or more flexible, you will be more willing to work out. Knowing that you need to work towards a goal will inspire you to meet that goal and fulfill it. A little healthy competition never hurt too! With that buddy of yours, see who can gain more muscle mass or decrease their BMI quicker.
